Internet Video Marketing (Louise Isam - Student Article)
Previously video marketing was hugely successful on television alone. However, over the years video marketing has become more and more successful on the World Wide Web. This was established in 2008.
In order to advertise your product to the intended target audience you are required to choose a specific time slot between programmes, which are viewed the most by the target audience on television. For example, an advert for new mobile phones would be beneficial to be broadcast on channel 4, between programmes such as skins as the target audience is younger and mobile phones are a strong interest within this target audience. Specific interests will be determined by thorough demographic research. However, advertising on the Internet could be considered to be more effective as the target audience have 24-hour access to the advertisement, therefore the advertisement may receive considerably more amount of views than the advertisement shown on television.
Furthermore, the Internet can provide customer reviews on products via forums either by text or video. Videos being a more effective review than textual primarily because the viewer is visually and actively taking in the information being given. Previews of the product in use can also be shown which makes the review more believable and the feedback genuine. This can also be a form of advertising to attract more customers on the basis of recommendation from existing consumers. These reviews can be found mostly on social networking sites such as Myspace and Facebook, which has largely grown in popularity throughout the years. These networking sites are a good source for trafficking as the site has a high volume of subscribers who watch available videos and click on the links to be re directed to the website which the video originates from. This is an easy money making process. Textual forums are not as effective on the audience as they are not able to read the body language of the writer as there is no visual images, also the audience are not able to hear the tone of voice the writer is using, which means that the writer could be lying or being sarcastic about the product resulting in audience miss-interpretation. By visually seeing the person reviewing the product and possibly engaging in the product ensures that the review is genuine and more believable.
Overall, video marketing is successful within audiences as video enables them to actively take in the messages and images being presented. Also video provides a more reliable source of information in comparison to text.
