August 2009 Video Watching Online Tops Everything Previous
In August 2009 according to comScore.com, it was reported that online video viewing had its highest
hit in history reaching 25 billion videos being viewed, Google’s properties accounted for 40% of those
videos viewed, other notables in the top ten included hosting sites like Hulu, FOX and Yahoo.
What’s more is that the months that follow seem to be breaking previous month’s figures!
Businesses, TV stations and just about anyone with an opinion seems to want to upload a video what’s
more is that there is someone, somewhere in the world who wants to watch it.
You tube has seen a number of cult followings take place from individuals uploading videos from the
bedroom, it has also recognised that advertises have seen the benefits of using the ‘click through’
feature on such videos to reach their target audiences.
With so many videos being uploaded and many users making money from the click through feature
will the bubble ever burst? It’s hard to say, what can be said is that industries have certainly seen
the growth in online video and budgets are being allocated to not only effective SEO but also video
viral marketing.
As television and film content is becoming readily available on the net broadcasting networks are
seeing revenue streams rise year after year, an unexpected model which became apparent when
television advertisement revenue fell in early 2008.
